I hope this works boys. Kool and the gang rock it pretty hard. Get down on it
Sometimes dance parties occur in cars. Sometimes they are awesome. Here are some tunes for your next one.

A nice little piece of phish trivia: ”Moma Dance” was originally named “Black-eyed Katy” before it had lyrics.
Many are anticipating the new Cut Copy album, Zonoscope, myself included. However I’m a bit discouraged since listening to the two tracks that have been released before the upcoming album release on February 8th. Cut Copy quickly rose as one of my favorite bands when I first discovered them and I still routinely play the incredibly energetic and danceable songs that sucked me further and further into their fan base. But now I’m left wondering if they have forgotten their dance roots and unique sound:
Take Me Over
At first I thought I was listening to an unreleased Fleetwood Mac track (no I didn’t read the soundcloud comments before I thought that). 80s synth plus indie “ooooh”ing doesn’t equal the same build up, hook, and drop that Cut Copy had perfected in their earlier albums. How am I supposed to get crazy and dance like a fool in front of my friends to this?
Where I’m Going
Sure I dig 60s-like vocal harmonies and screaming shouts of “yeah” as much as the next person, but c’mon this is sway-able with a slow hand clap at best.
I won’t say my mind has been made up yet…I’m quietly hoping that after the two year break Cut Copy has taken that they’ve come up with at least a few tricks up their sleeve. But what I’ve heard so far has left me uneasy. Some might feel like I’m being harsh, but wouldn’t you be too, after expecting something equal to the caliber of this:

I’ve been listening to these tracks for years and they are still fresh to me. Try listening to the two first tracks again and again. I confuse myself further when I listen to Cut Copy circa 2001:

Makes you wonder, huh? Has Cut Copy decided to just go Indie Electronic? A metric that I feel is a huge measurement of musical success is how often Cut Copy’s music has been remixed and used by droves of artists and DJs. Will we see the likes of Chromeo, Holy Ghost!, Hercules & Love Affair, Calvin Harris, Golden Filter, !!! and Digitalism feel the same way about upcoming Zonoscope? I hope so. I’m hoping to be proved wrong. Prove me wrong, Cut Copy. Please.

Well folks, I know so many people read this blog so I figured I would post one of my best finds in the past few months. On this the eve of the eve of Thanksgiving, I am giving thanks for these remixes. They are some of the best Fleetwood remixes I have every heard. I love the screaming guitar riffs and smooth voice mixed with the hard synth tones. So delicious. Get ‘em while its hot!

With work being dicks today and deciding to ruin my music scene on the interwebs, i am now resorted to scouring the blog-o-sphere to find tracks that will play across our terribly controlled internet. Well didn’t take that long. Found this guy to day “Just Some Kid” (great name). He is apparently royalty or decedent from such and has been spinning since he was 14 for royalty. I love the 2nd track of this long playing remix. Keep rocking kid.

With two thousand and 9 being the year of the mashup, we have heard them all and prob are a little underwhelmed with new ones. They sound great but they get a bit old, because we are tired of the tracks already. Well the Hood Internet is rocking our faces off with some new remixed tracks. Their key is they have found the best of new music and are mashing them up. This track comes from two bands,

Shows that is. The first one started off Thursday night with Home Video. The show was quite nostalgic after listening to the band for years and only now getting the chance to see them live. The real takeaway from the night was the opening band Kisses’ performance however. I wouldn’t be surprised if they blow up the Indie scene with force. The Lindstrom show is a bit hazy -- people have told me that I had a great time at the show, so I guess that’s my opinion on that. Brought some disco into the mix with the No Way Back 1 year anniversary show at the very cool 222 Hyde. DJ Conor was present and continues to pleasure with his modern interpretation of classic disco. I was really teetering on a 4th tonight, but in the end finally decided to call it a weekend. Anyway, the show that will undoubtedly be awesome, is that of Tensnake:
Coma Cat
Holding Back My Love
It’s still show season and I’m off to another one tonight. This time it’s a band I’ve been a long time fan of, Home Video. My buddy Mike Lambert introduced me to the duo about 5 years ago and tomorrow night is the first time I’ve had the chance to see them play live. An EP and and an album has kept me interested all these years (though they have a new album coming out in about a week) and I’m really looking forward to what they will offer in a live set.
A couple of my favorite tracks,

Also at the show is Kisses, a band that I know relatively nothing about. However a quick exploration of some of their music on YouTube left me impressed enough to get there early and check them out.
